Letter to the Editor: The Heart Beat

Letter+to+the+Editor%3A+The+Heart+Beat

On October 23rd, Sacred Heart Prep’s student newspaper, The Heart Beat, published an article with an erroneous rumor that Menlo’s football team would be moving to an eight-man league in the future. As Head of School Than Healy stated at today’s assembly, that rumor is unfounded. What follows is a letter from the editors-in-chief of The Heart Beat to the Menlo community.

“Dear Menlo Community,
We, The Heart Beat, want to apologize for an article that was published on October 23 that reported on a false rumor that the Menlo football program was going to be changing to an eight-man football team. For those of you who are not aware, The Heart Beat is the Sacred Heart Prep student-run newspaper, and we, the Editors-in-Chief, are writing this letter. Our intent was to elaborate on the positive aspects that our friendly, fierce rivalry produces. We have come to understand that Menlo’s football team will not reduce to an eight-man team, and that this rumor was completely unfounded and the discussion had never occurred. We have apologized to Mr. Than Healy, and we hope you, the Menlo Community, will accept our heartfelt apology and come in full spirit Friday night to support both our football teams, the Peninsula Bridge Program, and the friendly, fierce rivalry between our schools.”

Sincerely,
Ted Catlin ’16
