Recap of Tennis and Volleyball: 9/5-9/8

By Claire Willig and Malia Bates

The varsity girl’s volleyball team won three out of five sets  leading to a victory against Aragon High School on Wednesday, September 5th. Senior Alexandra Ko said, “We really clicked well together as a team. We maintained our composure under times of pressure.” This win comes after the Spikefest tournament on Saturday, September 1st in which the team won 4 of their matches and lost 2. Thursday, the lady Knights were in action once again, but this time against a much tougher opponent, the St. Francis Lancers. Menlo lost 2 games to 3 in a well-fought 5 set match. Everyone made significant contributions, especially sophomore Elisa Merten, who returned to the court after recovering from a recent wrist injury. Although the team lost 2-3, they showed true effort and passion against the Lancers.

The varsity girls tennis team beat Saratoga High School 7-0 on Wednesday, September 5th. The team also participated in the California Classic tennis tournament this weekend in Fresno. They beat San Ramon Valley High School and Corona Del Mar, both with a set score of 4-3. The team lost to Dana Hills 2-5 and Santa Barbara 3-4 to get 4th place in the tournament overall.
