Why Sea of Gold is Mired in Mediocrity

Why+Sea+of+Gold+is+Mired+in+Mediocrity

The Sea of Gold  so far has been a shadow of its former self in the fall season.  Anyone who would deny that its failing from glory needs to see this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FoXIHI-2cSM (fast forward to 2:12) and then compare that energy level to this years Homecoming Football Game.  Attendance numbers haven’t necessarily plummeted but the amount of avid cheerers certainly has.  The mass of underclassmen girls that cheered about “home runs” at the Homecoming football game alone was enough to destroy any faith in the Sea of Gold that had been accumulated last year.  The fact that we can fill the stands for Homecoming and still not get more than roughly 10 people to cheer says volumes about our total school spirit

We can attribute a couple causes to the Sea of Golds decline.  One, the previous Sea of Gold leaders possessed unmeasurable energy and enthusiasm that, despite their effort, the current SoG leaders will not be able to match.  Two, a majority of the truly enthusiastic and sports knowledgeable students are currently playing football and obviously can’t be anchoring the SoG because they are playing.  Hopefully with an influx of enthusiastic football players to the SoG during the winter sports season will be the reviving spark the SoG needs.
