Boys Varsity Baseball:
The boys varsity baseball team’s season ended on May 13 as they lost 3-1 against Carlemont in the quarterfinals of the PAL Tournament. In league, the Knights finished with a 2-11 record and eighth in the standings. The 2015 season was Ryan Cavan’s first season as head coach of the team. Prior to the 2015 season, Cavan had played in the minor league system of the San Francisco Giants organization. The Knights have had their highs and lows this season: on February 20 against Menlo-Atherton, the Knights beat one of the highest recruited pitchers in the country, Matthew McGarry. Additionally, on May 12, the Knights beat the Hillsdale High, who had a record of 25-1 at the time, to get to the quarterfinals of the PAL Tournament. With a strong returning senior class, the Knights look to compete next season for a league title.
Boys Varsity Tennis:
The tennis team continues their success as they enter the CCS finals against Bellarmine on Friday. The Knights are undefeated in CCS so far. The team won their round of 16 matchup against Archbishop Mitty 7-0 on May 8, their quarter final matchup against Harker 7-0 on May 11, and their semi-final matchup against Saint Ignatious 7-0 on May 13. The Knights will play at Courtside Bay Club in Los Gatos on May 15 against Bellarmine in hopes of winning their seventh straight CCS title. Looking forward, the Knights will travel to Sacramento on May 22 and 23 for the Norcal Playoffs if they win CCS on May 15.
Boys Lacrosse:
The Knights have had an impressive season, finishing with an overall record of 13-5 and 10-0 in league. The team entered the first round of the PAL Tournament May 12 against Sequoia and won by a score of 20-1, their largest victory all season. In the semi-final matchup on May 14, the Knights took on Woodside High and won 11-5. The win sets the team up to play rival school Sacred Heart Prep on May 16 at Burlingame. The Knights and Gators have played twice already this season, and Menlo has come out victorious on both occasions.
