On Thursday Aug. 31, the Menlo girls volleyball team defeated Menlo-Atherton in its first home game in front of a rowdy crowd.
It was a clean 3-0 sweep, with the only difficulty coming in the first set which ended 26-24. The Knights were much more decisive in the second set with a 25-12 victory, and they finished off the sweep with a 25-21 victory in the third set.
This win brings Menlo’s overall record to 5-2, extending their win streak to three games. Some notable players were senior captain Kristin Sellers, junior Grace King, and junior Sianna Houghton. Together they had 28 kills out of the team’s total of 37.
Sellers had a kill percentage of 73.3 and made several highlight plays. With multiple fake sets and spikes, she was on top of her game and led the team in kills with 11.
