Menlo started the week sweeping Mercy-Burlingame 25-9, 25-12, 25-11. They then wrapped up the week’s slate by defeating Harker in 4 sets (25-13, 25-16, 28-30, 25-10).
The Knights have an outstanding overall record of 18-3 (6-0) and are sitting a half game above Notre Dame-Belmont for first place in the WBAL. Junior Washington commit Sianna Houghton had a fantastic week for the Knights, totalling 26 kills in the two games. Both Houghton and senior Kristin Sellers, a Brown commit, had double-doubles against the Harker Eagles with Houghton adding 11 digs to her 16 kills and Sellers posting a statline of a whopping 29 assists and 11 digs.
Before dropping a set against Harker, the Knights had been on an amazing streak, crushing opponents to the tune of 10 straight sweeps. Next week the Knights have critical league tilts versus Mercy-San Francisco and Notre Dame-Belmont.
The Knights have put together an amazing season thus far. They only hope to continue to ride their success going into the playoffs. “So far we have been successful in league,” senior Ryan Hodge said. “There have been moments of adversity during games, but we have banded together as a team to get the job done. Hopefully that continues into the playoffs.”
