The Menlo girls lacrosse team fended off Sacred Heart Prep this Tuesday by a score of 9-8. This win propelled the team to sole possession of first place in the West Bay Athletic League.
Five players were able to score for the Knights. Junior Sophie Scola lead the Knights with a hat trick, followed by senior Haverford commit Abby Wolfended and fellow junior Charlotte Swisher who added two goals each.
While the Knights ceded two goals to begin the game, they swiftly regained the lead and took control of the momentum of the game with the help of the crowd. “I noticed a huge change in the energy once the crowd started getting louder,” senior Sea of Gold member Thomas Brown said. The Knights were able to control the game for the rest of the first half and didn’t allow Sacred Heart to make a full recovery with the help of sophomore goalie Alyssa Sahimi who made a last-second save to secure the victory.
