Menlo’s Community Engagement club, Knight Vision, ran Community Engagement week, lasting from Feb. 27 to March 3. During the week, students had the opportunity to participate in activities to help the community and earn CE credits. To start, Menlo hosted a CE fair for students to learn about different community service organizations connected to Menlo. Other events included making blankets for Project Linus, a nonprofit organization that delivers handmade blankets to children in need, and filling snack bags for LifeMoves, an organization that supports homeless people in the Bay Area.
Junior Logan Wilson and freshman Grant Wilson describe Project Read to History teacher Peter Brown at the CE fair. At Project Read, students can volunteer to tutor students in local libraries to help improve their reading. “I think it’s a perfect opportunity for students to get involved in their community while gaining a CE credit at the same time,” Grant said.
