Upper School Director John Schafer spoke about the upcoming 2024 election in Martin Hall during lunchtime on Tuesday, Sept. 10. Schafer discussed a variety of topics including President Joe Biden’s exit from the presidential race, Kamala Harris and Donald Trump’s vice presidential choices, and much more. Schafer also touched on upcoming events and potential engagement opportunities for Menlo teachers and students to look into.
After discussing the election, Schafer opened the floor for students and teachers to ask questions. Schafer emphasized the significant impact that engaged citizens have on democracy. “I very much hope that Menlo students, whether they can vote in this election or not, will take it upon themselves to become informed, to participate as they can, and will stand up for what they believe,” Schafer said after the talk.
