With a dominant 24-7 win against St. Ignatius on Wednesday, Sept. 25, the Menlo flag football team moved to 9-0 on the season.
The team controlled both sides of the ball with sophomore Ava Allen commanding the offense from under center and senior Ari Kaufman anchoring the defense by pressuring the quarterback and pulling flags.
Senior Ellie Knoll credits the team spirit as part of their success. “We have a great team culture. Everyone’s supporting each other on the sidelines. We like to call them our eighth man, so they’re like another player on the field who is just on the sidelines cheering us on,” Knoll said.
The Knights will look to maintain their undefeated record with a difficult schedule next week, facing off against Sacred Heart Preparatory and Saint Francis. “I think just continuing to do what we’re doing and playing as a team and playing our football is what’s important,” junior Maren Mulloy said.
