Several weeks ago, chemistry teacher Roderick Mobley went through kidney failure. He is stable now and is currently recovering. However, out of the four original chemistry teachers, two were left to teach all the classes, as fellow teacher Bianca Nakayama is also out due to maternity leave. Therefore, a sub was needed to help out.
Last week, Mobley’s classes we introduced to Tiffany Wu, who will be substituting for Mobley for the rest of the year. She will be teaching five classes: two accelerated chemistry classes, two conceptual chemistry classes, and the organic chemistry class open to juniors and seniors. “It’s been great. I’ve definitely come across unique challenges that I hadn’t anticipated, but I love it because I’m learning so much from everyone,” Wu said. Although at a hard, the students have adjusted well thanks to Wu’s flexibility. “It was a pretty hard transition when Mr. Mobley left, but Ms. Wu is doing a really great job accommodating to our needs in the classroom,” sophomore Jada Scacco said.
Although the transition was rough, everyone has been working hard to welcome Wu to make the transition as easy as possible. “The other teachers are so nice to me. It’s so great because they have such a great community here and I definitely feel like I am very well supported, and everyone is very willing to help me out,” Wu said. “I am really sad [Mobley] left and I hope he feels better, but we are really excited to welcome Ms. Wu because she’s a great teacher,” sophomore Renee Girard said. Everyone seems to be carrying a positive outlook on the situation. We are thankful to have a great substitute, and send warm wishes and a speedy recovery to Mr. Mobley!
