Last night, May 15, Menlo varsity girls lax team soundly defeated rival Menlo Atherton High School 12-2 in the semifinals of their league tournament. Despite going into the game apprehensive, the Menlo girls were able to effectively control and dictate the direction of the game. “I definitely thought we were going to win because the team has worked so hard and made so much progress this season, but I didn’t know it would be by this much,” junior Josie Rouser said. With this strong performance, the girls have gained confidence going into the championship on Saturday, May 17. “I think that winning this last game has put the team into such a good mindset going into the championship. As a team that performs well under pressure, I have great confidence that we will be able to pull out the win,” senior captain Alyssa Sherman said.
Although the championship game is against rival Sacred Heart Prep, the team is prepared to play their best. “I think we are capable of winning but it will definitely be a tough game. Whatever happens, the team has worked so had and will perform to the best of their ability,” junior Michelle Ho said. In any outcome, Menlo varsity girls lax has had a fantastic season and will look to end the season on a high tomorrow.
