This past weekend, the girls lacrosse team lost the championship game in tight fashion to rival Sacred Heart Prep. The girls played at Harker School, and the final score was 13-12 in favor of Sacred Heat. This was especially disappointing for the team because their past two games against Sacred Heart have ended in a similar score with them losing by one goal. While the Menlo girls were hoping to finally beat their evenly matched rivals, this wasn’t the game for it. “I think we definitely could have beaten them. While they are a very strong and powerful team when on their game, I think Menlo is too. Hopefully next year we’ll be able to finally beat them,” junior Josie Rouser said. Senior captain Alyssa Sherman, while disappointed with the loss, knows the girls put their hearts into the game. “We went in there feeling confident and I think that allowed us to put up such a fight. It certainly wasn’t an easy game for either of us, but I think we definitely made them work for it,” Sherman said. Despite the loss, the girls are determined to correct it by putting in the time in the offseason that will express itself next year.
