First Menlo Park Homicide since 2012

On Wednesday, Dec. 12 at 5:34 p.m., the Menlo Park Police Department received a 911 call reporting that someone was dead in a home on the 900 block of Valparaiso Avenue, across the street from Menlo School. Police responding to the call found a woman stabbed to death in the home.

Suspect Francis Wolke was taken into custody at the scene. He has been booked into the San Mateo County Jail on the charge of first-degree-murder.

Wolke was identified as a 36-year-old man from Cincinnati, Ohio who has a previous address in San Francisco from 2014. Wolke has a previous outstanding arrest warrant for prowling and possession of narcotics, also from 2014.

Wednesday’s crime is the first reported homicide in Menlo Park since 2012. According to the Menlo Park Police Department, the crime scene is contained and there is no public safety threat.

Police are still investigating for a connection between the suspect and the victim. No further information is available at this time.
