Girls Basketball Wins Third Straight CCS Championship

Menlo’s varsity girls basketball team captured their third straight CCS title with a dominant 49-33 win over No. 2 seed Half Moon Bay in the CCS Division IV final on Saturday, Feb. 24. No. 1 seeded Menlo started off hot, scoring 22 points in the first quarter led by junior Ruiqi Liu who finished the game with 15 points. Despite a defensive-focused second quarter, the Knights remained ahead of the Cougars, up 26-10 at the half.

Menlo emerged from the break with relentless energy, propelled by seniors Arthi Abhyanker and Summer Young, who each connected on three-pointers. Menlo continued to control the championship game, cruising to a  49-33 victory. Abhyanker led the Knights in scoring with 16 points, closely followed by Liu who had 15 points and a team-high nine rebounds . Young also contributed nine points, all of which came from three-pointers.

After the win over Half Moon Bay, the girls three-peated as CCS champions and look ahead to the CIF Division IV State Championship beginning Tuesday against Foothill High School.
