Menlo students celebrated the final day of Eco Act Week with the annual sustainability fair, which focused on environmental solutions, during student life on Friday, April 18. The school’s environmental clubs set up stations on the quad with information and activities on a wide range of subjects. Students walked around with a bingo card, participating in activities such as “Get One Health Tip From the Red Cross Club” and “Find Out What the Bay Area Boomer Project Does.”
The fair was one of the many events that Menlo’s Climate Coalition planned for the week, along with a clothing swap in partnership with Fashion Club, a farmers’ market and an assembly. The solutions fair set up on the junior quad had two long tables divided by an aisle for students to browse stations set up by on-campus clubs.
According to Director of Sustainability and science teacher Chrissy Orangio, the fair’s purpose was to educate students about how they can get involved in environmental activism both on and off campus. Orangio was pleased with how the revamped event went. “Last year, a senior came up with the idea for a solutions fair and this year we made it a student life block event,” she said. “I’m really proud of the students who came to volunteer and proud of the amazing events,” she said.
