The most famous Menlo staff member was not well-known among students. JT Toscano, who left the school in April, worked at Menlo for 20 years in the operations department. However, it was his work outside of school that brought him the most recognition. Toscano is a singer and dancer known professionally as Xavier Toscano; he has amassed nearly 50,000 Instagram followers, and his most popular music videos have over a hundred thousand views on YouTube.
While mostly pursuing music outside of school, Toscano filmed some of his music videos on campus and performed La Bamba at a Hispanic Heritage Month assembly in 2022. “[La Bamba] was definitely a huge highlight. The screaming was amazing!” Toscano wrote in an interview with The Coat of Arms.
While Toscano was well-known on the internet, he also did a lot of different things at Menlo School. “I did a variety of things from being an office manager to, at times, supervising special projects,” he wrote. “I was one of the contacts for the school neighbors, repairs, shuttling and much more.”
Toscano worked at Menlo for many years and said it was time to do something new. “[I will miss] the people that I won’t be seeing on a daily basis anymore,” Toscano wrote.
