Menlo’s 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th graders embarked on retreats on Monday, Aug. 25 and Tuesday, Aug. 26 to strengthen class bonds as the 2025-2026 school year begins. The retreats are designed to promote class unity and as part of the experience, students turned in their phones.
Freshmen spent Monday on a day trip to Redwood Glen Salvation Army Camp before returning to campus Tuesday for class meetings and other community-bonding activities. Their retreat did not include an overnight stay.
Sophomores went to the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk on Monday before spending the night at Redwood Glen Salvation Army Camp.
Juniors headed to YMCA Camp Jones Gulch, where they participated in programming focused on engagement and authenticity as well as activities including rock climbing and archery.
Seniors attended the NatureBridge Golden Gate Retreat Center at Fort Cronkhite, a WWII army post in Marin County. The 12th grade retreat emphasized free time for bonding, with class-wide activities interspersed throughout the trip.
