At the annual Halloween Assembly on Friday, Oct. 31st, Upper School students participated in spirit activities and costume competitions.
The assembly began with a cover of “When the Chips Are Down” from the musical Hadestown, performed by senior Claire Barnet, junior Vivian Sun, and sophomore Aria Wasson.
The Halloween celebration continued with spirited games, the first of which was a wig-snatching contest. Adorned in colorful wigs, two people from each grade competed to see who could keep their wig on the longest while attempting to snatch others’ wigs. Junior Logan Tran won.
The second activity involved guessing mystery objects in a box, and freshman Shagun Jaspal guessed the most items in a mystery box in the least amount of time, winning the final round of the game.
The final activity was a race through an obstacle course that spanned multiple floors, including the gym and hallways near the training rooms. The obstacles included sliding under caution tape, hopping in a potato sack and weaving through a string maze. Senior Krista Arreola touched the carved pumpkin finish line first, winning it all for the seniors.
The assembly concluded with a costume contest with four categories. Math teacher Reeve Garrett won funniest costume, Spanish teachers Patti Frias and Janet Tennyson won most creative, a freshman dressed as a Care Bear won scariest and the seniors won best group costume dressed as Star Wars.
