Student reactions to new grade report distribution

Students are receiving the administration’s decision to send grades straight to students positively. “Sending grades straight to students is a good policy because I get to see my grades myself instead of hearing about them from my parents,” said sophomore Sasha Cassidy. Senior Sarah Schnasi agreed. “I am happy that they finally decided to do this because it is so much easier,” said Schnasi. “I am actually surprised it took the administration so long to figure out a better way to distribute grades,” added senior Lillian Siegel.

While students are excited that they get to receive grades straight from the administration, students question the reasons behind sending out grades during the middle of the school day. “I like that the administration is now sending our grades to us as well, but receiving our grades in the middle of the day is a huge distraction,” said senior Kate Park. “Honestly, it kind of ruins my day,” added Cassidy. “I think it would be better to send grades after school because people start talking about their grades and others could feel bad,” said Park.

The administration’s idea to send grades to both students and parents was a good one, but has the administration actually put more pressure on students by sending grades in the middle of the school day? Popular opinion says yes, but students still appreciate receiving grades straight from the school despite the minor drawbacks of hearing either good or bad news in the middle of a busy day.
