Student+Council+Update%3A+May+20

Wondering what Student Council is up to? Here are a few quick updates.

Lucy Heneghan | Online Editor

Here’s What We Discussed This Week:

  • Day on the green is coming up on June 3rd. We confirmed the rental jumpy slide, set a date and time for a trip to Costco to get lots of snacks, and talked about the schedule for the day. After the science final, there will be day on the green celebrations, followed by the Senior Show at 2, and then students will go to their class pool parties.

  • Student council class officer elections are happening tomorrow during the student life block. Petitions are due at 3pm today and there will be a meeting at 3:15 in the student center for all candidates. Speeches will be on Thursday, immediately followed by voting during student life, lunch, and after school. On Friday, there will likely be a presidential run off and then on Tuesday the 26 senator voting will take place.

  • There is a concert coming up on May 22. We discussed how to get energy high for the event, as well as working on the theme, games, and food that will be available during the concert.

  • Kathy Chen, returning this year, introduced herself to council. She will be working next year on Student Life.

  • The Centennial Picnic is coming up on May 31- discussed publicity for this event.

  • We discussed the  introduction of a spirit system for next year that involves large flags for each grade that would be displayed on the patio.
