Menlo’s varsity baseball team soundly defeated El Camino 14-2 on Thursday afternoon, bringing their league record to 3-1. Junior starting pitcher Jackson Flanagan threw four shutout innings, allowing five hits and striking out two.

Freshmen Fletcher Cahill and Liam Widner each pitched an inning, with Widner allowing 2 runs in the sixth inning. Junior Renner Barnett relieved Widner in the seventh, closing the game for the Knights.

Freshman Zach Roeder went 4 for 4, junior Chuck Wynn had two hits — including a triple — and three RBIs and junior Jack Freehill scored three runs.

Menlo swept El Camino, as they also beat them 2-0 on Tuesday.

“The energy in the dugout was high, and we fed off one another, […] and that’s something to build off of as we get into the heart of the league schedule,” senior Benjamin Salama said.
