On March 23 and 24, Menlo middle and upper school students performed in three shows over two days in the annual Dance Concert. This year’s theme for the concert was “innovate,” which included innovation in movement, lighting, sound and video. “It was definitely a challenge. […] But in the end, I feel like our hard work paid off,” senior Emmy Ford, who has been dancing for Menlo Dance Enrichment since her freshman year, said.

Throughout the show, the audience and dancers off-stage cheered and clapped, bringing great energy into the Spieker Center. “You want people cheering you on. It’s not like a typical recital but it definitely makes everyone go more full out, it’s more fun to perform and you give the energy back that the crowd gives you,” Ford said.

After the concert’s performance on Saturday night, dance teacher Angela Curotto-Pierson honored the Menlo Dance Enrichment programs’ 18 seniors. “It was actually really sad,” Ford said. “I was on Knights as a freshman so those people have really become my family.”
